Guest Post

Hello All,

I have a special guest post for you all tonight, this guest post is special because it is not from a blogger, it is from one of my readers, and I hope you find this post as interesting as I did! So thank you Gittel, for a lovely post!

Clear skin is what every girl wants. The skincare industry is overflowing with products to sell to us and each one claims to be the promise of beautiful skin. A savvy girl will read beyond the ads and commercials to see what each product really has to offer.
Besides for the routine every girl should have (cleanse, tone, and moisturise), we have to know about things that cause acne. One of them is something that most teens use, thinking it is good for their skin. And that is the products we put on our skin.
Most of our products are have many chemicals that are very harsh on our skin. They may get rid of pimples for a time, but in the long run, using these products dry and tire out our skin, consequently bringing acne back. The process goes on and can cause early ageing, especially for sensitive skin.
(Besides for being too harsh on our skin, there are many harmful things these chemicals do for our health. It takes 26 seconds for the chemicals in your products to enter your bloodstream. You can read about the harmful effects our skincare products have on our health here:
The basis for teenage skin is to use products without the most harmful chemicals. Meaning, you don’t have to go certified organic, just avoid the most harmful ingredients:
Sulfates (written as sodium lauryl or sodium laureth),
Parabens (written with a prefix such as methyl, ethyl, propyl, and butyl, etc.),
Phthalates, Propylene Glycol, Polyethylene Glycol (PEG),
Diethanolamine (DEA),
Triethanolamine (TEA),
Artificial Colors.
The difference between certifies organic and natural/organic products is that certified organic products are 100% chemical free and organic, while natural/organic products are often free of the most harmful ingredients but may have other chemicals, and may contain one or more organic products.
Those who just want to avoid most harmful ingredients should obviously go for the second option, and if you want to go more natural obviously, get certified organic.
Some Natural Brands good for teens: (just a few!)
Burt’s Bees, Amie Skincare, Elemis Freshskin, 100% Pure, Oy! (OrganicYoung),Young and Pure, Bellaboo Skincare, The Konjac Sponge Company, Neutrogena Naturals.

So take a look at the ingredients on the back of your products and if they have chemicals decide if you want that on your skin. Cleanse, Tone, Moisturise (sunscreen by day, and scrub once or twice a week) minus the chemicals. Your skin will thank you, and when you are 50 you’ll thank yourself!
